Olympics, Olympics Football
I don’t really care for the Olympics. I will probably watch the football because it’s football. I may watch some of the other stuff because TV is shite so there is nothing else on to watch.
But with the football it really is pointless. It is unnecessary for football to be part of the Olympics and I don’t see it as a Olympic sport. It’s a meaningless distraction when you should be with your team in preseason getting ready for the real business when the new season kicks off.
England Team GB won’t win a medal and will probably get knocked out on penalties. Spain will win Gold, Silver and Brozen because they win everything at football now.
Play Euros in All the Countries
It some latest UEFA madness Michel Platini suggests that Euro 2020 could be played all across Europe in different cities and stuff.
“It is easier to go from London to Paris or Berlin than Cardiff to Gdansk. It would be four games per venue. It is a great debate.”
But surely this would be a real burden for fans having to travel from country to country and they wouldn’t be able to afford the costs. Fear not though because Michel Platini has the solution.
“‘There are low-cost airlines these days.”
Yeah, like ryanair. Do you want to fly with ryanair?

A rare image of a ryanair plane actually working like a plane should.
This comes after the changes that Euro 2016 will have 24 team instead of 16. Something that will probably wreck the tournament which is rather fine the way it is.
Right now with only 16 nations competing you get the odd poor team like Greece, Czech Republic and England, but can you imagine another 8 teams of poorer quality? Michel Platini, however, seems to think Europe is full of quality teams.
“We have 24 good teams in Europe. We can find the eight…like Norway, Serbia, Belgium, Scotland.”

“Scotland is a quality footballing nation with a load of amazing talent,” said Platini failing to disguise his chuckle as he spoke.

Predictions:
Czech Republic 1-2 Portugal, Spain 2-0 France, Germany 4-0 Greece, England 1-0 Italy.
Portugal 1-2 Spain, Germany 2-0 England
Spain 0-2 Germany
:)
England 1-1 France
Bit of a late post because I was a little ill but England hang on desperately for a 1-1 draw against France in their Euro 2012 opener.
It all started out rather well. I though England were doing a good job and they were the better team…. Until they scored… Then it was just all defend, defend defend…
It was like this guy was in charge:

“A 1-1 draw against France is an amazing result, The lad defended valiantly.” said Mcleish
After a very very very long couple of weeks football is finally back for a little bit. The Euros have started. :)

Norwich Act Fast To Replace Lambert
Didn’t take them long to appoint a new manager and it’s Chris Hughton from Blues. I like Chris Hughton and I think Norwich will stay up again this season now. Hughton is a good young manager and he deserves another go in the premier league after being unfairly sacked at Newcastle.
West Brom Finally Have A New Manager
But who the hell is Steve Clarke? Yeah I have no idea. An assistant at Liverpool. Was assistant at Chelsea when they won the league twice so maybe he is a good coach but how will he handle being the leading man. Will be interesting to see how well West Brom get on this year.

Steve Clarke. To be honest looks like he should be appearing in some Crimewatch CCTV lineup
Managerial Changes Aplenty In This Preseason
Paul Lambert takes charge of Aston Villa
Comparisons to Martin O’neil but I think there are some differences. However Martin did take charge of a struggling relegation threatened Villa and took them 11th then 6th so… As long as Lambert doesn’t buy a load of average players on very high wages everything will be fine.
Brendan Rodgers is Liverpools new manager
Now the style of play that was at Swansea was not Rodgers doing. No, Martinez starting all that but what Brendan did was find balance. Can he get Liverpool playing a similar way and will he get them back into the top 4.
This leaves Norwich and Swansea without managers
So who will take charge of these teams. Norwich apparently have been “inundated with applications” but if those who have applied are the likes of Steve Bruce and Mick McCarthy it’s not really much to shout about. I like Norwich though. I hope they get in the right man or else I feel they may struggle next season.
Same goes with Swansea I reckon. The tried to get someone from Wigan that no one ever heard of. The assistant I think, but talks have broken down. Whoever comes in should keep Swansea playing the same passing game however maybe being a little bit more direct at times. For the wonderful football Swansea played they probably should score just a few more goals. I think they will need something a little bit different to stay up next season.
West Brom have been managerless for awhile
So what are they waiting for or does no one want the job? There have been strong rumours that it is Chris Hughton but what’s the hold up. He would go to them surely? Blues seem to have financial trouble so there is not much he can do there.
I know it’s early but Roy has already decided on the players he will pick to face France, and it was leaked for a brief moment. Here is the team:
Hart
Kelly Terry Carragher Johnson
Henderson Spearing Shelvey Downing
Gerrard
Carroll

Betting Corner: Intro, My Bets for the Euros
I like a bet. I don’t win very often, but the times I have won has led to a small profit all together currently based on my winning against what I have laid out in total. I kinda feel like sharing what bets I put on. I’m interest to see how successful I am and maybe we can all make some money. I hope so because money is good and so is screwing the bookies.
Anyway my bets for the Euros:
To win the bloody thing - Germany.
After seeing how well they did at the last World cup with their young team I said then they will probably go on to win the next Euros… and maybe even the next world cup to do what Spain done. Available at 3s in many places. Take your pick.
To win it eachway or in other words to reach the final - Portugal or Holland.
Basically the other team to get out of the group of death. I believe Germany will top it and making the good guess that Spain will win their group second place in group B will likely face Spain in the semifinals.
This is a bit of a punt really at a team with better odds that could go all the way so long as they get through Spain. I think it’s worth taking and it’s up to you who you decide to go with. I went with Portugal because the higher odds were too tempting.
A Germany v Portugal final sound plausible right?
Be sure to get some top scorers on - Mario Gomez current favourite at 7s
I haven’t made my decision yet but I might go eachway with either Van Persie, Ronaldo, Llorente. Not really sure… I like eachway bets :p
Comfirmed England Squad of the Euros.
Goalkeepers: Joe Hart, Robert Green, Jack Butland.
Defenders: Leighton Baines, Gary Cahill, Ashley Cole, Glen Johnson, Phil Jones, Joleon Lescott, John Terry.
Midfielders: Phil Jagielka, Stewart Downing, Steven Gerrard, Frank Lampard, James Milner, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Scott Parker, Theo Walcott, Ashley Young.
Forwards: Andy Carroll, Jermain Defoe, Wayne Rooney, Daniel Welbeck
The team I would pick for the first game against France:
Hart
Jones Terry Lescott Cole
Parker Milner
Walcott Gerrard Young
Carroll
